What is it?

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture(USDA).  This child nutrition program provides financial reimbursements to licensed or certified child care providers for serving nutritious meals and snacks to children in their care .

The CACFP is absolutely free. That's right! There's no charge to participate. You will need to prepare meals which meet the guidelines established by the USDA. These are meals that are much like the meals you are probably already serving and is the same meal pattern required by both licensing and certification rules. You will receive a payment every month to help you buy the food to serve the children!

Who is eligible to join the Child Care Food Program?

• Licensed or certified child care providers. Find out how to become certified or licensed.

What children can be claimed on the Child Care Food Program?

• All child care children birth through 12 years old.

• The provider's foster children birth through 12 years old when other child care children are present and participating in the meal.

• The provider's own children when eligible based on household size and income and when other child care children are present and participating in the meal. See if you qualify.
